Just a little history........



Dunlap was built in 1963 by four couples from the Salem area, Marv & Jackie Dalke, Dave & Esther Loewen, Marv & Betty Lowen, and Leo & Joan Wahl, (who later became known as The Dunlappers) all members of the same church. Their intent was to find a great location on the Oregon beach to build a 'get away' to enjoy with their families and friends. 

They found the vacant lot on New Years day in 1963 and put $25 dollars down to hold it. Then the real work began, every Saturday was a work day at the new beach cabin, but they were always in church Sunday morning. This went on until completed in the Summer of 1963 and an open house for all their friends on July 7, 1963. Many changes and improvements have been made over the past 50 years, but the essence of a lakeside lodge on the Oregon Coast has not been lost. 

Ownership has changed just a little, now the lodge is owned by Betty Lowen and Arlene Pfau.

.....oh, and the name 'Dunlap'? That name came from the longstanding joke that their stomach's 'dunlapped over their belts'
